The star of the evening will be violinist Veriko Tchumburidze - winner of the 2016 Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition, aged just. 20 years old. Since then, she has gained a reputation as a captivating soloist, chamber musician and recording artist.
Born into a Georgian family in Adana, southern Turkey, she began her studies under Dora Schwarzberg at the MDW in Vienna in 2010 as a scholarship recipient of the Young Musicians on World Stages (YMWS) project. From 2015 to 2022 she studied with Prof. Ana Chumachenko "s, and from 2022 she continues her second degree in chamber music with Dirk Mommertz and Raphael Merlin at the Musikhochschule in Munich.
She has performed with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra and Pomeriggi Musicale, the Cape Town Philarmonic Orchestra. as well as the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, among others. She has worked with conductors such as Łukasz Borowicz, Ruben Gazarian, Sascha Goetzel, Howard Griffiths, Gemma New, Michael Sanderling, Andrey Boreyko, Aziz Shokhakimov and Dima Slobodeniouk. She has performed with the Lahti Symphony, the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg, the Musikkollegium Winterthur, as well as the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra. An avid promoter of chamber music, she performs in recitals with pianists Ketevan Sepashvili and Mamikon Nakhapetov, and was previously a member of Trio Arte, a piano trio that won first prize at the 2016 Pietro Argento International Music Competition in Gioia del Colle, Italy.
She plays a violin by Giambattista Guadagnini, made in Milan in 1756 and generously loaned by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
